Founder/Professor of Visual Effects
Gabriel Teo currently heads the Digital Media and Animation Department at New York Institute of Technology’s Beijing campus. He developed the Visual Effects department at SCAD Hong Kong, and in October 2014, he earned the Master of Animation accreditation through the recommendation of Huhu Studios, which now extends throughout Asia. Gabriel has 18 years of global industry experience working in major film and game studios. In 2001 he headed the cinematic department at a game development studio in Dubai Media City and founded an animation studio in 2003 in Dubai with Disney Channel ME as his primary client. He became compositor for Weta Productions in 2005 before teaching at Auckland University of Technology, lecturing and heading the animation and moving image departments. As head of Media Research and Development at Huhu Studios in Auckland, he supervised visual effects for Noah’s Ark, as well as developed collaborative cloud technologies for games’ cinematic production.
Educational and Project Coordinator
Sydnie Wachs has been working in education, visual design, and marketing since 2008, beginning with the tourism and historic preservation industries. Using a strong foundation in the art of story, she has coached writers and artists in both Asia and America to think out-of-the-box in developing their careers. Working with people of countless demographics has propelled her to embrace creativity as the heart of learning, as well as a crucial tool to transcend language and cultural barriers. A background in fine arts and writing has given her an interesting perspective in bringing into existence unique collaborations among talents and trades. Sydnie’s field of experience comprises primarily of creativity coaching, event and project coordination, and educational training.
